Promoting Data and AI Integration to
Drive Decision-Making
Refresher Training Programme on 'Soft Skills, Personality Development, and Professional
Excellence' for Junior Statistical Officers of the Statistical Services Subdivision (SSS) of the
Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India (MoSPI), was
held during December 2-6, 2024, in Agartala, Tripura. EDII and Directorate of Economics and
Statistics (DES), Tripura, in collaboration with the National Statistical Systems Training
Academy (NSSTA) & Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of
India, organized this programme.
The programme focused on enhancing leadership skills and adaptability, providing practical
knowledge of advanced data-driven decision-making tools and techniques, and fostering
collaboration and professional excellence in statistical roles. 25 Junior Statistical Officers
from MoSPI and other states attended the training programme.
At the Inaugural session: (3rd from L) Shri J.K. Sinha, Chief Secretary, Government of Tripura; (2nd
from L) Shri Abhishek Chandra, Special Secretary, Planning (Statistics), Government of Tripura;
(3rd from R) Dr. J.S. Tomar, Deputy Director General, NSSTA; (2nd from R) Dr. Raman Gujral,
Professor & Director- Dept. of Projects- Corporate & Regional Director, (1st from R) Dr. Pankaj
Bharti, Associate Professor, EDII and (1st from L) Dr. Reshmi Manna, Associate Professor, EDII.
The programme underscored the vital role of continuous capacity building for data
producers and the importance of quality data in achieving developmental goals.

and updating their skills to attain professional excellence. Also present during the interaction
were ( R - L ) Dr. Raman Gujral, Professor & Director- Dept. of Projects- Corporates, EDII; Dr. J.S.
Tomar, Deputy Director General, NSSTA; Shri Abhishek Chandra, Special Secretary, Planning
(Statistics), Government of Tripura and Dr. Reshmi Manna, Associate Professor, EDII and
Programme Co-ordinator.
The programme underscored the vital role of continuous capacity building for data
producers and the importance of quality data in achieving developmental goals. The
participants acknowledged the significance of continuous learning to enhance use of
innovative tools like AI, metaverse data and psychometric assessments. According to
Programme Director, Dr. Pankaj Bharti, “The programme was useful in empowering the
participants with essential skills in leadership, teamwork and data driven decision making.”
