Cluster Development to Induce Industrial
Restructuring and Sustainable Growth
...The National Rural Economic Transformation Project (NRETP)
NRETP To promote cluster development and ensure livelihood opportunities for
disadvantaged households in non farm sectors, the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD),
Govt. of India has launched the National Rural Economic Transformation Project (NRETP).
EDII, functioning as Technical Support Agency (TSA) to State Rural Livelihood Missions
(SRLMs), is engaged in providing technical assistance to approximately 1192 artisans in six
clusters.
In the last two months, EDII has implemented the following interventions in clusters:
Kolhapuri Chappal Cluster, Kolhapur
The Kolhapuri Chappal Cluster
participated in the Mahalakshmi Saras
Exhibition 2024, held from 14th to 25th
December 2025 in Navi Mumbai.
Organized by UMED – Maharashtra State
Rural Livelihoods Mission, the exhibition
focused on bringing products of women
to the forefront and thus promoting their
business through networking and
associations. The Kolhapuri Chappal stall
attracted visitors who admired the
timeless elegance and intricate
craftsmanship of the kolhapuri craft. The
artisans recorded remarkable sales
during this exhibition.
Badarwas Jacket Cluster, Madhya Pradesh
A meeting was conducted with Shri Arun Kumar Kuril,
Assistant Commissioner, Directorate Handloom and
Textiles, Varanasi Division and Mr. Eklavya Bajpai, CEO,
Badarwas Jacket Cluster, Madhya Pradesh to discuss
about Badarwas Jacket Producer Company Limited and
its ongoing efforts to promote local craftsmanship. The
discussion focussed on promoting these handcrafted
jackets at various events, particularly at the Prayagraj
Kumbh Mela being held during January 13 to February 27,
2025. Shri Arun Kumar Kuril praised the dedication of the
women involved in the production, and assured his
support in promoting the products.
