...The Success of Ministry of MSME supported
Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Programmes
Skill development is a tactical approach to fostering empowered individuals and economic
development through entrepreneurship. In today's unpredictable markets, it is important
to adapt to the pace, assume new roles and upgrade skills to grow. Training, counselling
and skill building have proved to induce efficiency and thus productivity.
Relevant and adaptable skills and attributes foster progress and open new business
avenues. The benefits are particularly conspicuous on the factors of:
• Employment and self-employment
• Enhanced business prospects of existing businesses
• Social and economic empowerment
In consonance with this, EDII was roped in by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium
Enterprises, Govt. of India to implement Entrepreneurship & Skill Development
Programmes (ESDP) at PAN India level. EDII has been implementing ESDPs since 2019. So
far,34states and UTs have been covered with 4219 programmes. In the year 2023 -24
alone, 2108 programmes were conducted, PAN India.
As per the mandate of the programmes, existing and potential entrepreneurs representing
varied traditional sectors and industries were trained to escale their businesses or set up
new ventures.
The 5-tier project was a blend of domain skill and entrepreneurship training, curated to
deliver high value through a blend of intensive and immersive classroom interaction and
field visits. The 5 programmes under the project included:

Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes (EAPs)
• 1200 EAPs sensitized 66554 potential entrepreneurs.
Management Development Programmes (MDPs)
• 400 MDPs trained 10791 existing & potential entrepreneurs.
Entereneurship & Skill Development Programmes(ESDPs)
• 500 ESDPs trained 13692 existing & potential entrepreneurs.
Advanced -Management Development Programmes (A-MDPs)
• 2 advanced MDPs ensured upgradation of 51 existing MSMEs
Advanced - Entrepeneurship & Skill Development Programmes (A-ESDPs)
• 6 advanced ESDPs resulted in progressive domain and entrepreneurial
skills in 142 existing MSMEs
