Sponsored by the Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission, DST, Govt. of Gujarat, EDII
conducted 10 two-day programmes on promoting Biotechnopreneurship, at various
locations across Gujarat. These programmes were attended by 850 individuals from
more than 16 districts, willing to set up enterprises in the field of biotechnology.
'SHE' Gears Up for Her Entrepreneurial Journey
EDII, under the aegis of the Government of Telangana, has been at the forefront of
promoting women entrepreneurship through various initiatives. Among these, the Micro
Skillpreneurship Development Programme (MSDP) and the Entrepreneurship Growth
Programme (EGP) are pivotal. Additionally, EDII is establishing a Common Facility Centre
(CFC) for women in selected areas of the Nirmal district.
The initiative targets entrepreneurship & skill promotion and financial literacy among
women, alongside extending handholding support through the WeAct platform. EGPs
were conducted in six key locations: Nirmal, Lakshmanchand, Dilwarpur, Khanapur,
Mudhole, and Kaddam. Each training session was of six days, accommodating 50
participants at every location. 250 women were successfully trained on establishing and
running their own enterprise. They also comprehended legal structures such as Udyam,
FSSAI, and DCGI, in addition to learning about branding and marketing strategies for retail,
wholesale, and e-commerce platforms. Participants were also educated on available loan
options and relevant government schemes. An industrial tour was organized to provide
practical insights into the operational aspects of businesses. Dr.Raman Gujral, Director of
Corporate Projects, expressed happiness over the way the trainees exhibited confidence
about setting up own business.
