Charting Cluster Growth Paths


                          The National Rural Economic Transformation Project [NRETP]

                          The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) has launched the National Rural Economic
                          Transformation Project (NRETP) to promote cluster development in both the farm and
                          nonfarm sectors. As a Technical Support Agency (TSA) to State Rural Livelihood Missions
                          (SRLMs),  EDII  provides  technical  assistance  to  artisan  clusters.  This  support  includes
                          conducting scoping studies, preparing Detailed Project Reports (DSR), and implementing
                          approved clusters.

                          In  the  past  two  months,  EDII  has  implemented  the  following  interventions  in  select
                          clusters:


                          Dahod Pottery Cluster:

                          59 electric pottery pug mills and wheels distributed to artisans in Limkheda & Jhalod,
                          Dahod district of Gujarat as part of the E-Kutir scheme. This initiative was sponsored by
                          Gujarat Matikam Kalakari & Rural Technology Institute (GMKRTI). This initiative offers 75%
                          subsidies  to  modernize  traditional  crafts,  reducing  physical  strain  and  boosting
                          productivity with eco-friendly equipments. It aims to preserve cultural heritage, support
                          artisans' livelihoods, and ensure the sustainability of pottery crafts in the region.

                          Badarwas Jacket Cluster, Madhya Pradesh:

                          In  Badarwas,  the  process  of  acquiring
                          essential  machinery  and  equipment  has
                          been initiated, post imparting training to
                          61  women,  till  date.  The  machinery  and
                          other high-tech resources being arranged
                          will  ensure  high-quality  production  and
                          foster  creativity,  giving  the  cluster  a
                          competitive edge. The cluster is targeting
                          production of high-end superior products.

                          Office-bearers of Kolhapuri Leather Cluster during a market survey in Chennai to source
                          quality leather. The also observed upgraded operations, developments in designs and
                          durability.




                                                                Under  the  initiative,  Channapatna  Toy
                                                                Cluster, Karnataka is also being addressed to
                                                                adopt  advanced  measures  and  best
                                                                practices.  The  cluster  entrepreneurs  are
                                                                being  imparted  skill  training  and  market
                                                                development opportunities.  The toy cluster
                                                                infrastructure  is  also  being  upgraded  to
                                                                ensure quality and innovation.
