Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII, emphasized how international programmes have
been fostering learning and reinforcing the concept of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' – the
whole world is one family. He said, “Entrepreneurship depends on two factors – financial
capital and social capital which primarily involves human resource development and a
conducive environment for the growth of entrepreneurship. EDII is committed to
developing social capital and knowledge & skills that help access other entrepreneurial
requirements, such as capital, markets and networks.”
As Course Director, Dr. Satya Ranjan Acharya explained, “As a tangible outcome of the
programme, the participating officials from the domains of marine, aqua, fisheries and
other departments will get empowered with skills and a strong entrepreneurial attitude
that fosters innovation by combining knowledge, ideas, and necessary skills to develop
sustainable solutions towards addressing economic issues in the marine agriculture
system in their respective countries, leading to a high incidence of entrepreneurship feats.”
The course was divided into six modules, each covering vital aspects of environmental
sustainability and resource management, and efficient supply chain systems. The modules
include; Entrepreneurship: Characteristics of entrepreneur, motivation and
entrepreneurship; Agri-business Environment; Opportunities in: Marine Agricultural
inputs, Aquaculture, Organic farming, Food processing, commercial aquaculture, Exports,
Agri services, Post-production technologies; Knowledge and skills in project formulation
and project appraisal, evaluation of Agri projects; Managing a Successful Marine Agri-
business & Visit to successful Agri-business Units and Supply Chain Management.
• New Enterprise Creation and Skill Upgradation in French Language
EDII pioneered the launch of Programme on 'New Enterprise Creation and Skill
Upgradation' in French language. Beginning from January 29, 2025, the programme
continued till February 11, 2025. 16 professionals from 9 ITEC partner countries—Republic
of Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Mauritius, Niger, South Africa, Tajikistan, Tunisia, and
Uganda attended the programme. The participants were equipped with the knowledge
and skills to identify entrepreneurial opportunities, leverage untapped markets, and
create business ventures by applying existing technologies to new markets.
