Enhancing Incidence of Micro
Entrepreneurship
...is the way forward
5 eighteen-day MEDPs (Micro Entrepreneurship Development Programmes) were
conducted by EDII Gorakhpur team at various villages in Gorakhpur district under
Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP)
Scheme of Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM). The project was
launched in Gorakhpur in the month of July, 2023 to create awareness about
entrepreneurship as a career among youth, women, and disadvantaged people
through awareness workshops, capability and skill building for self-employment and
micro-enterprise creation. Mentoring and guidance is also an inbuilt component of
the project plan to ensure that existing entrepreneurs acquire learning to sustain
their ventures. The project will create more than 175 micro-entrepreneurs and
sensitize over 1000 individuals on the charms of being an entrepreneur.

Agri- Entrepreneurship Emerges
as a Tool for Empowering Rural India
Agribusiness, encompassing various facets like agricultural and contract cultivation, seed supply,
fertilizer, farm machinery, marketing, and food production, demands an entrepreneurial mindset
attuned to market dynamics. Entrepreneurship in agriculture can inject dynamism in this sector.
To address this, EDII organized 3 Institutional Development training programmes on 'Agro Based
Entrepreneurship' during the quarter. The programme targeted B.Sc agriculture students from 2
accredited colleges under Choudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar
and 1 from Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU), Andhra Pradesh. The goal was to
enhance awareness and skills in agriculture-related entrepreneurship, covering aspects like pitching,
market dynamics, consumer behavior, and adopting an entrepreneurial way of agri-practices.
Attended by 150 participants, the programme covered diverse topics such as agribusiness planning,
logistics, value chains, market research, identifying business opportunities, interpersonal
communication skills, business model canvas, team building, leadership, and agricultural innovations.
The sessions were interactive, blending classroom discussions with practical approaches.

Dr. Satya Acharya, the Programme Director, expressed optimism, stating, "This training programme
should catalyze a new wave of thinking, ushering in a new era of entrepreneurship in agriculture. Agri
entrepreneurship holds vast opportunities, and it's encouraging to see many young individuals
exploring its potential. The received business plans are promising, indicating the emergence of
future pioneers."
The programme aimed not only to equip participants with skills but also to inspire a transformative
mindset, fostering a new generation of agripreneurs.
