Professional Biography
Suraj Ratanrao Kakde is a development professional with over three years of experience in policy advocacy, rural livelihoods, and enterprise promotion, combining grassroots implementation with policy engagement across Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Bihar. At the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, he worked as a Policy Advocacy Officer, supporting large-scale implementation of the Forest Rights Act through community–government coordination, establishment of Community Forest Resource Management Committees, training design, and policy documentation. Earlier, as a Young Professional with KSRLPS, he supported PMFME implementation, promoted micro-enterprises, helped establish a Van Dhan Vikas Kendra, and developed a village-level planning tool recognised as a state best practice. He holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies from Azim Premji University and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT College, Aurangabad. His interests include rural enterprise development, participatory governance, and policy research, supported by strong skills in institutional strengthening, stakeholder coordination, training, and monitoring
