At EDII, we have always believed that real development is not about big cities or fancy policies, it is about people in villages having the chance to stand on their own feet. That’s what Start-Up Village Entrepreneurship Programme is all about. As a National Resource Organization (NRO), in partnership with the Ministry of Rural Development under DAY-NRLM, we’ve been working closely with State Rural Livelihood Missions across the country to help people, especially women, start and grow their own small businesses. From grocery shops and tailoring units to beauty parlours and service centers these are not just enterprises, they are stories of courage, effort and hope. What makes this journey special is that the support system is built right within the community. Local youth are trained to guide others, and community institutions like SHGs and CLFs are actively involved. This approach creates trust, ownership, and lasting impact. As part of SVEP and NRLM-CDP, we’re not only offering training and handholding, but also helping build systems, connect people to finance, and use technology to track progress. It’s been heartening to see how women who never stepped out of their homes are now running successful businesses and becoming role models in their villages. Each number on this dashboard represents a life changed. These are people who once relied on daily wages or seasonal work, and are now running enterprises, sending their children to school, and saving for their future. This is the kind of transformation we want to continue. Our goal at EDII is to ensure that every village in India has the opportunity to grow through entrepreneurship. We are proud to play this role and even more proud of the people who have made it possible through their hard work, resilience, and dreams.
