Enterprising Ladakh is an initiative of the Department of Higher Education, Union Territory of Ladakh, being implemented by EDII. For fostering entrepreneurial ecosystem and encouraging youth, EDII established a dedicated office at the University of Ladakh and Kargil, Leh Campus. This Centre serves as a regional hub for entrepreneurial education, training and outreach. During the last two months several activities were undertaken across the ladakh.


April 24, 2026: Dr. Shukla also interacted with Shri Ashish Kundra, IAS, Chief Secretary of Ladakh, to review the progress of the Enterprising Ladakh initiative and discuss future strategies for strengthening entrepreneurship development in the region.
April 24, 2026: Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII, along with Dr. Amit Kumar Dwivedi, Professor & Director – Department of Government Projects, EDII, and Enterprising Ladakh team members, met Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh. The discussion focused on strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Union Territory through collaborative initiatives and strategic interventions.

A three-day Startup and Entrepreneurship Bootcamp was organised during May 11 to 13, 2026. The bootcamp brought together 50 potential entrepreneurs to explore the fundamentals of building a business from idea generation and opportunity identification to the planning of startup. Alongside a bootcamp, EDII also organized a 20-day Certificate Programme in Entrepreneurship, benefiting 60 students from Classes 8 to 12. The programme was focused on curating the mindset of entrepreneurship, problem-solving approaches and understanding of business fundamentals.
Apart from training, the Enterprising Ladakh initiative also focused on supporting local entrepreneurs with direct access to markets and buyers. On April 12, 2026, student entrepreneurs from Kargil and Sankoo trained under the Enterprising Ladakh showcased their innovative products during an exhibition. The event was graced by Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena. The event coincided with the inauguration of the Co-Working Space (established by the Department of Industries and Commerce, Union Territory of Ladakh) at the Incubation Centre, Kargil. From May 1 to 14, 2026, trained entrepreneurs under the project participated in exhibition of the Holy Relics (a spiritual and cultural event), where entrepreneurs showcased local products before a diverse audience.
