P. 2

EDII is glad to be associated with the task of creating entrepreneurs. Over last 10 to 15
years, we have witnessed positive mindset changes, ease of reaching out to trainees and
stakeholders for entrepreneurial activities, thus leading to even more appreciable results.
Today, EDII is touching lives of almost every target group and ensuring entrepreneurial
excellence and innovation. In addition to establishing that entrepreneurship can be
learnt like any other discipline, EDII has also successfully broken the myth that people
with strong financial background can only become entrepreneurs. Today, there is no
dearth of funding support for novel & innovative ideas. It is reassuring to notice how
policy makers, leaders and entrepreneurs encourage youths and the society in general, to
explore entrepreneurship. India in itself is an entrepreneur's delight, given its resources
                          and a mammoth market.

In the same vein, I feel delighted to mention that my heart swelled with pride on
listening to the Convocation Address of Shri Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO of the
National Stock Exchange of India (NSE), who was the Chief Guest of EDII's 23rd
Convocation of Academic Programmes. Addressing the students, he stressed on how
entrepreneurs are the backbone of India's progress – “Our country can achieve
development only through the outstanding contributions of intelligent, well qualified
and professionally committed entrepreneurs and those who look for opportunities in the
face of challenges within a resource limited environment. The country has to create more
people who can give jobs. We have to become job givers and not job seekers. You have
decided to become entrepreneurs. A very brave move indeed.”

Very well said. The students were motivated with a strong endorsement to their choice of
career. I am sure there will be another cadre of great entrepreneurs making a rich
contribution to the prosperity of the country.

                          Best wishes!!!
                                                                                             - Sunil Shukla
