Uttarakhand Sparkles with a Prominent Business Wave… Devbhoomi Udyamita Yojana

Recognizing the importance of fostering entrepreneurship for all-encompassing growth, the Department of Higher Education, Government of Uttarakhand floated the Devbhoomi Udyamita Yojana (DUY) in September 2023 across Uttarakhand. EDII is associated with the initiative as implementation partner and is envisioning and implementing entrepreneurship development programmes across educational campuses in Uttarakhand to motivate young minds to choose entrepreneurship as a rewarding career path.

Over the last two months, DUY has significantly expanded its outreach across the state with 111 one-day orientation programmes across government colleges and universities in Uttarakhand, thus reaching out to 6,649 students. These programmes introduced students to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, business ideation, market opportunities and various support systems available under DUY. The programmes also inspired students to explore innovative solutions using local resources.

On April 21, 2026, Dr. Amit Kumar Dwivedi, Project Director – DUY and Dr. Rajat Sharma, Entrepreneurship Expert – DUY met officials of Government of Uttarakhand to discuss the guidelines and implementation framework of the Devbhoomi Takniki Udyam Kranti Abhiyan under which focus would be on promoting tech-based startups. This was followed by a review meeting held on April 27, 2026, where officials from the Government and the EDII team jointly assessed the progress and impact of DUY, as well as the action plan for the Devbhoomi Takniki Udyam Kranti Abhiyan. The meeting was attended by Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha, Secretary of Higher Education Department Govt. of Uttarakhand, Shri Manuj Goyal, IAS, Additional Secretary, Higher Education Department, Govt. of Uttarakhand and other key government officials. Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII; Dr. Amit Kumar Dwivedi, Project Director – DUY and Mr. Shubham Kumar Singh, Project Coordinator, DUY presented the progress under the project virtually.

May 8, 2026: During Kailash Utsav at LSM Campus, Pithoragarh, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami honoured two young entrepreneurs trained under DUY, Manasi Kapri and Rohit Bhatt, for their entrepreneurial efforts. Manasi has been preparing decorative products, while Rohit is engaged in manufacturing bamboo-based products, contributing to livelihood generation and local employment.
