Through strategic global partnerships EDII is deeply rooting entrepreneurship even in foreign lands. As a part of this effort, the Institute continues to strengthen its long-standing partnership with Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), Government of Malaysia, to promote entrepreneurship and build a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in Malaysia.
Over the years, EDII has worked closely with MARA in building capacity of MARA employees. MARA employees, over the years, have imbibed learnings to create a meaningful impact among SMEs and first-generation entrepreneurs across Malaysia. EDII’s contribution has also supported MARA in advancing the goals of Malaysia’s National Entrepreneurship Policy 2030.
In recognition of its contribution, EDII was awarded the Global Strategic Partner Award from MARA on May 3, 2026, at the World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur. The award was presented by Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Hon’ble Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Government of Malaysia. During the event Dato’ Zulfikri Bin Osman, Director General, MARA, Malaysia appreciated EDII’s contribution to strengthen entrepreneurship ecosystem through continuous capacity building initiatives for MARA officials.


As part of the future roadmap, EDII, in the collaboration with MARA is planning to establish a Centre of Excellence on Entrepreneurship in Kuala Lumpur. The proposed centre will serve not only Malaysia but also the ASEAN region. During the visit, Dr. Sunil Shukla also held meetings with key institutions in Kuala Lumpur to further enhance EDII’s presence and collaborations in Malaysia.


Advanced Training of Trainers’ Programmes for Senior Officials of Akademi Kecemerlangan MARA
An advanced Training of Trainers’ Programme was conducted for 30 senior officials of Akademi Kecemerlangan MARA from May 5-9, 2026, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The programme was designed to train senior officials for restructuring, redesigning and planning entrepreneurship development strategies to achieve Malaysia’s Vision 2030. EDII also worked on five-year strategic plan for MARA, Malaysia. The training sessions covered several important topics, such as; entrepreneurship and economic development, process and practice of entrepreneurship, strategic framework of entrepreneurship development activities, policy design in training, education and research, business plan and various entrepreneurship development models.

The programme reflected EDII’s continued commitment towards building global partnerships and supporting entrepreneurship-related initiatives through knowledge sharing, skill development, and strategic collaboration.
