A group of women from diverse backgrounds—living below the poverty line, homemakers, migrants, and unemployed—embarked on an entrepreneurial journey through an EDII training programme. This programme equipped them with necessary entrepreneurial, marketing, and financial skills. In Noida, they recognized a gap for pure, healthy mustard oil; they grabbed the opportunity and started their own business, creating the brand “Deepti.”
Initially, they faced numerous challenges. They struggled with operating machinery, identifying target customers, sourcing high-quality raw materials, pricing strategies, and developing effective branding and packaging. However, with initial investment secured through the project and the consistent guidance and support of EDII mentors, they persevered. The mentors provided invaluable support in areas like bookkeeping and accounting, customer communication and social media presence, developing marketing and branding strategies, and knowledge of raw materials and quality products.
This mentorship proved transformative. The women gained the confidence and skills to run their business successfully. Now, looking towards the future, these women entrepreneurs have ambitious plans. They aim to expand their product range, reach new markets within Noida, and increase their production capacity to meet growing demand. Their journey exemplifies how training, mentorship, and entrepreneurial spirit can empower women and transform lives.
