Pavithra, a resident of Chikkaballapur, faced financial challenges as her husband works as casual labour, making it difficult to meet the family’s needs. Determined to support her family financially, she attended an Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme (EAP) meeting, invited by a representative from their local community group. During the meeting, the EAP project staff provided a detailed overview of skill development and entrepreneurship development training programmes and the diverse opportunities for starting a business. Pavithra enrolled in the Micro Skillpreneurship Training Programme, received training in tailoring various garments. This enhanced her skills and also boosted her confidence in business management.
Pavithra started her business in rented premises with an investment of Rs. 80,000. Although her husband was initially unsupportive of her decision, she eventually convinced him to support her micro-enterprise. Initially, she struggled to attract customers due to stiff competition. To overcome this, she conducted a market survey to identify emerging customer needs. With guidance from Master trainer and EDII expert, she designed products aligned with the Market demand. This strategic approach boosted her sales.
Currently she earns Rs. 5 lakhs per annum, Pavithra plans to expand her business and employ more than ten people. Her hard work and proactive approach improved her financial condition and also made her a role model for others.
