Pratik’s entrepreneurial journey began with a spark ignited at a summer camp at EDII and early exposure to his family’s textile machine manufacturing businessHimson Machines as a group designs, develops and manufactures standard textile machines,  accessories and offers tailor made solutions to the industry They also tailor-make machines.

Pratik joined EDII’s PGDBEM course to acquire knowledge and skills on managing and scaling his family business. Pratik fondly recalls, “At EDII, I got a good hold on financial knowledge and other management skills. It was here that my plans got crystallized. Technology is also something that I closely explored.”

Pratik carefully evaluated various factors and developed a 5-year Perspective Growth Plan for his company’s future. Going back to his family business, Pratik introduced advanced management techniques, introduced technology related changes and analysed numerous project reports to identify expansion opportunities for his business.

But it wasn’t always easy for him. There was a time when his family started disintegrating and a split seemed inevitable. Pratik shares, “Under such circumstances, the management changed and no strategy could be envisioned, leading to financial hiccups.   But I am grateful to God that we overcame the situation and business started falling in place. I also then became more mindful about my approaches and implementations. EDII’s learning actually came in handy as an important element of learning at EDII had dealt with handling crises and overcoming challenges.”

After the family split, Pratik was instrumental in acquisition of 3 different businesses, including one from a German company, manufacturing Gear Metering pumps.

Today, Pratik leads four companies, including two fully-owned firms and two proprietary ventures. Under his guidance, the group has reached an annual turnover of Rs. 45 Crore. With the business growing at a good pace, expansion is Pratik’s next big priority.

For the new generation entrepreneurs, he shares, “Have long-term goals and stay focussed. With perseverance and hard work, everything will eventually fall in place, and you will be reaching newer heights.”
