Jay comes from a non-business family, but he grew up admiring entrepreneurs. He dreamt of becoming a first-generation entrepreneur and this ambition led him to enrolling in the PGDMBE programme at EDII, which laid the foundation of his entrepreneurial journey. “EDII helped me crystallize my ideas to become a successful entrepreneur,” Jay recalls. “Alongside training, EDII also provided a platform to pitch my ideas in front of investors, which developed my confidence in launching my venture,” he adds.
Jay began his entrepreneurial journey with MUVR.in, a technology-driven logistics company inspired by the Uber model. He later expanded his logistics portfolio with BYWAY (WeLet Technology Pvt. Ltd.), a tech-enabled logistics platform which manages last-mile and multimodal logistics for leading e-commerce companies such as Flipkart, Amazon, Myntra and Big Basket. BYWAY today serves as an integrated logistics network offering on-demand trucking, warehousing and enterprise transport solutions across multiple cities in the country.
A serial entrepreneur, Jay recognized opportunities in multiple areas. He ventured into retail through Kleren Retail Ventures LLP, which operates under franchise partnerships with Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited. He also founded Rich Basket, a premium gourmet retail and online store in Ahmedabad, and established the Linea Group, a real estate and construction firm focusing on innovative infrastructure development.
Jay’s entrepreneurial journey is an inspiration. He started his business with an initial investment of Rs. 2 lakh, and today his companies across ventures, clock an annual revenue of more than Rs. 45 crore. He leads a team of over 200 professionals across 24 cities in India.
Jay represented India at the Annual Meeting of the New Champions by World Economic Forum in China and at the Eastern Economic Forum in Russia. He serves as Associate Editor of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Potentials Magazine and is also on the Board of IEEE Educational Activities and the Public Visibility Board.
A TEDx speaker, recipient of the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Award and associated with World Economic Forum’s Ahmedabad Hub, Jay continues to mentor aspiring and existing entrepreneurs. Jay’s entrepreneurial journey was a roller coaster ride, a testament to innovation, determination and immense hard work. He shares, “My father once envisioned me as a government servant like him, but today, he is deeply satisfied with me becoming an entrepreneur. I profusely thank EDII for showing me the trajectory.”
