Startups Support Activities


India is quite familiar with the word ‘Start-ups’ and is putting up major  policy measures to give a boost to this culture. Startups promise to bridge the gap between the present economic status of India and the envisioned status five years hence. EDII is involved in varied activities to boost the start-up culture in the country.

Nodal Institute for Startups under the 'Scheme for Availing Assistance to Innovations’

The Industries Department of the Government of Gujarat has appointed EDII as the Nodal Institute for Startups as part of the Startups/Innovation Scheme. Under the empanelment, which is for a period of five years (2020-2025), EDII plays a crucial role in supporting and guiding startups operating in various sectors, including agri-business, food processing, bio-technology, chemicals, plastics, and manufacturing. The Institute provides counseling and mentorship services to these startups, helping them navigate through the challenges and complexities of establishing and growing their businesses.

By leveraging its expertise and experience in entrepreneurship development, EDII equips startups with the necessary knowledge and skills to overcome obstacles and achieve sustainable growth.

So far, 30 ideas are approved and received grant to the tune of Rs. 4,70,30,000

Student Start-up and Innovation Policy (SSIP)

The Student Startup & Innovation Policy (SSIP) assists students to explore and develop their innovative ideas into successful ventures. Under the auspices of the Gujarat Knowledge Society (GKS) and the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Gujarat, EDII has been selected to receive grants under the SSIP. EDII's role includes providing essential mentoring and support to student startups that have been awarded seed grants. By providing mentoring and handholding support, EDII helps student startups in developing business plans, establishing connections with potential investors, and navigating through the regulatory landscape.

So far, 32 students received grant to the tune of Rs. 23,37,000

Entrepreneurial and Management Development of MSMEs through Incubator Scheme

EDII has submitted students’ start-up ideas to ‘Support for Entrepreneurial and Management Development of MSMEs through Incubator Scheme’ of the Government of India. The main objective of the scheme is to promote and support untapped creativity among individuals and promote emerging technologies in manufacturing as well as digital transformation through knowledge-based innovative MSMEs (ventures) that seek validation of their ideas at the proof-of-concept level. The Scheme has also attempted to choose enablers who have supported such MSMEs in expanding business as well as designing, strategizing and executing. Each idea is awarded with Rs. 15 lakhs.
