Entrepreneurs and innovators see Ladakh as the next booming entrepreneurial destination with robust infrastructure, burgeoning natural resources & opportunities, and new policies & initiatives. ‘Enterprising Ladakh’ is a novel initiative of the Department of Higher Education, Union Territory of Ladakh. It is being implemented by EDII, to empower local youth and communities for entrepreneurial pursuits. The initiative aims to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the UT through collaboration, training programmes and on-ground engagements. Ms. Bhanu Prabha, IAS, Administrative Secretary (Higher Education, Technical Education & Skill Development, School Education), Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh has been particularly supportive of the initiative.
Enterprising Ladakh gets honoured with the prestigious SKOCH Gold Award
February 11, 2026: A high-level strategic discussion was held to strengthen efforts under the initiative. Dr. Diwakar Singh, Assistant Professor, EDII, met (L) Shri Ashish Kundra, IAS, Chief Secretary, Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh, to share a briefing on activities under Enterprising Ladakh initiative and seek suggestions for introducing newer measures. The Chief Secretary was also briefed on the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) programme, along with the role of the State Project Implementation Unit being executed by EDII.
Under the Enterprising Ladakh initiative, EDII is committed to fostering entrepreneurship through strategic policy support, capacity building and community-driven development.
