Recently, EDII conducted studies on Varanasi and Ayodhya tourism to assess the impact on the local economy and optimize tourist satisfaction. Commissioned by the Department of Tourism, Government of Uttar Pradesh, the studies aimed to profile tourists, track tourist flow, gauge satisfaction with various attractions and activities, and forecast future tourism trends.
- Varanasi Study:
– 95% of tourists are inclined to revisit.
– High satisfaction scores for the KVT corridor: 4.26 for overnight and 4.12 for day tourists.
– Projected tourist flow: 10.03 crores in 2024, rising to 18.71 crores by 2030.
– Projected local expenditure: ₹23,975 crores in 2024, reaching ₹44,903 crores by 2030.
- Ayodhya Study:
– 92% of tourists are inclined to revisit.
– Projected tourist flow: 9.09 crores in 2024, increasing to 12.68 crores by 2030.
– Projected local expenditure: ₹10,050 crores in 2024, growing to ₹16,003 crores by 2030.
– Recommendations include enhancing tourist satisfaction, improving budget tourism information, and providing convenient facilities and day trip options.
Harnessing technopreneurial potential among women could boost the economic growth of the nation. The major objectives of the study included gaining a global overview of the existing policies to bring women into technopreneurial activities, develop strategies for dealing with professional challenges faced by these women to facilitate re-entry into the workforce, find out entrepreneurial intentions of such women and finally suggest a policy framework for promoting technopreneurship among technically qualified women, who wish to re-enter the workforce.
This research report aimed at highlighting the gaps of the existing level of technology transfer and commercialization, and thus suggested suitable policy measures towards its improvement in the Indian context.
This study, conducted over four years, investigated selected MSMEs across ten states of India. The selection was made on the basis of innovative activities that they were implementing. Some of the critical findings of the study deduced that in-house continuous research and development (R&D) followed by external R&D and technology commercialization are the key factors for enhanced levels of innovation in a given firm. Easy availability of credit for innovation is crucial for the success of MSMEs in the sphere of innovation, especially for new entrepreneurs. Further, low interest funding for infrastructure relating to innovations and interest subsidy for capital expenditure was touted as factors that boost the spirit of innovation and competitiveness.
World Intellectual Property Organisation, Geneva; Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (RGNIIPM), Nagpur and Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), Nagpur jointly organised the 'WIPO India summer school on intellectual property' at Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (RGNIIPM), Nagpur, Maharashtra from 6th to 17th November 2017. An elaborate report was developed on the event.
This study aimed to draw attention towards certain policy gaps and thus suggested plausible solutions for the improvement of technology transfer process in the Indian context. The authors presented an extensive web survey of technologies available for transfer/ commercialization in 12 major Indian research organizations.
To promote and strengthen science and technology (S&T) entrepreneurship in the country, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, has put in dedicated efforts by way of training potential entrepreneurs under TEDPs, WEDPs and S&TEDPs through TDB, TBIs, STEPs, iEDCs etc. As a result, a large number of S&T based enterprises in various sectors and regions across India are created every year. However, there is paucity of information related to rained S&T-based entrepreneurs/enterprises. To fill this gap and to measure the level of entrepreneurial activities by geography, products etc. an integrated online database is required and hence this task was taken up.
The study highlighted the challenges faced and suggested recommendations to bring about improved functioning of incubators in India. It looked into aspects such as; entry criteria, selection process and tenancy; incubation and infrastructural services offered and exit criteria parameters. Some of the challenges highlighted were outdated equipment at incubators inadequate and irregular cash flows limitations in identifying capable tenants sourcing technology and providing marketing support to tenants
Entrepreneurship Understanding the Potential and the Constraints The study helped understand the professional challenges faced by women with technical background, who have taken a career break, to re-enter the workforce. Based on the findings, the study suggested a Policy framework for promoting technopreneurship among women with technical background, who have taken a career break and wish to re-enter the workforce.

This study aimed to capture data on the current technological platform of India's manufacturing sector and their aspirations for improving operations, infrastructure, and technical skills. It sought to measure industry attitudes toward technology and the implementation of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (AMTs), as well as the openness of Indian manufacturers to business development through AMTs.
The key objectives of the study were to identify critical challenges related to various Science and Technology dimensions and suggest interventions for overcoming these challenges for achieving the vision of 'Make in India'.
The objective of the study was to assess the effectiveness, efficacy and sustainability of Incubators in India and major issues faced by them to evolve a comprehensive strategy for sustenance and growth of incubation movement.
Under this DST supported initiative, the Institute documented the travails and triumphs of S&T driven entrepreneurs for wider dissemination among youth in various engineering, technology and management institutions, besides R&D laboratories.
This study attempted to underscore the dynamics of formation, survival and growth of S&T entrepreneurs, and the impact of policy on their business/strategies. The study covers DST supported hi-tech entrepreneurs having emerged with the support of STEPs, TBIs, TDB and iEDCs.

Objectives:
The Survey was conducted in 20 clusters and 50 tourist destinations in Madhya Pradesh. The objective of the survey is mainly to authenticate a safe tourism experience for women in Madhya Pradesh. The specific objectives were:

EDII carried out the AYUSH project in association with the Forum on Indian Traditional Medium (FITM), the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), and the Ministry of AYUSH sponsored this study. The study aimed to estimate the size of the service sector in terms of income from the AYUSH economy in India, except Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. EDII has conducted the primary study using in-person interviews, focused group discussions, and secondary data research to reach the estimated size of the AYUSH economy in India.

In all States and Union territories, State Science and Technology Councils have been established. A separate Department of Science and Technology has also been established by many States and the State Councils are led by chief ministers or a renowned scientist. DST has approved 148 projects from 2012-13 till 2016-17 under the State Science and Technology Program (SSTP). The projects are being implemented across 25 states and 63 sites. In the course of analysis, EDII approached all organizations, gathered necessary facts, assessed current conditions and evaluated the data. The mandate is to determine the replication status and business & marketing potential of technology. Alongside assessing the feasibility of technology from the point of view of beneficiaries, the study also probed its potential appeal to the masses. The research work of DST-funded initiatives under the SSTP is to be determined from technological and process perspectives, their replication potential, the likelihood of entrepreneurship and commercialisation of innovations, and the potential to reach people.

Promoting high-tech science and technology based entrepreneurship holds potential, and needs to be encouraged to ensure that India remains at the forefront of global tech-business leadership; more so, as India has the 5th largest pool of scientific manpower with enormous potential, backed by demographic dividends. Hence, the Centre for Policy Research in Science & Technology Entrepreneurship set up at the Institute, under the aegis of Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, works with the mandate of promoting innovation-driven S&T Entrepreneurship; strengthening policy research mechanism and influencing policy formulation through advocacy. The centre has undertaken significant research work and studies to promote S&T Entrepreneurship.
