Centre for Foreign Languages and Business Practices

The Centre for Foreign Languages and Business Practices will design and offer programmes focused on imparting multiple language skills interconnected with business communication; facilitating business collaborations, new enterprise creation and technology adoption. It will empower entrepreneurs and stakeholders with essential language skills, cultural insights, values and business-oriented communication, in languages, including; English, Mandarin, Japanese, Spanish, French, German etc, in addition to imparting impart region-specific business-related knowledge, skills & attitude for growth and development.

Objectives

Empower entrepreneurs and stakeholders with essential language skills, cultural insights, values and business-oriented communication, in some of the most commonly used languages, including; English, Mandarin, Japanese, Spanish, French, German etc.

Equip the beneficiaries with an understanding of the basic mechanics of the language so that they are able to articulate their points for business purposes.

Ensure that the beneficiaries lead better, with enhanced communication skills, in a multilingual business setting.

Complement business language skills with cultural insights to help the participants expand their business territories with an understanding
of business systems, values, attitudes, approaches
and procedures.

Promote cross-cultural business interactions for beneficiaries and help them forge stronger business partnerships.

Impart region-specific business-related knowledge, skills & attitude for growth and development.

Activities

3-month Capsule Courses on Language and Business Communication Essentials

Categorized in modules, this course will give an introduction to ‘Language’ and build competency in basic and advanced language structures, focus on written & verbal skills; impart cultural perspectives and delve into the principles of business communication, in the context of the language being addressed. The pedagogy will involve classroom sessions, simulation exercises, presentations, tests, business practice sessions and interactions with entrepreneurs of the country being associated with the language.

2-day Workshop on Viable Business Opportunities & Ideas of the Selected Country

The languages, and hence the corresponding countries that have been selected to be addressed through this Centre, have substantial scope for business. There are multiple entrepreneurial engagements that can be explored with these countries. Every 2-day workshop will cater to a country and will bring to the table, a set of business ideas that could be explored and pursued. Potential and existing entrepreneurs, interested in business ties with the given country, will be the prospective participants.

Country-Specific Export Workshops

These workshops will focus on imparting information on ‘How to Undertake Exports’ with the given country. Every workshop will provide comprehensive information on international trade, finding a market, buyer database, regulations, market research etc.

Tie-ups with Important Association and Chambers in the Targeted Foreign Countries

EDII will strike partnerships with Indian Industry Associations, Chambers and other Business Associations in the said countries. This will build a strong platform for future collaborations between the two countries. A country-specific inventory of such associations will be prepared by EDII, and business facilitation will be promoted for interested entrepreneurs.

Exchange Visits of Entrepreneurs for Hands-on Learning, followed up by Startup Workshops

Exchange visits will be organized to facilitate business collaborations, technology transfer and adoption. The visits will be followed up by a Startup Workshop on EDII Campus, to analyse the learnings and give a direction to entrepreneurs. The workshop will review the learnings entrepreneurial environment and regulations of the country; help create business model canvas for probable/identified business ideas, evaluate key aspects such as; technology, marketing, sales, customers, funding and other important aspects, thus demonstrating a winning trajectory to the entrepreneur.
