Entrepreneurship has taken a leap in India’s economy and there has been a significant increase in the start-up ventures.  However, with respect to Women and Entrepreneurship, there has not been much rise in terms of the number , and this could have been due to a multitude of issues faced by women through the various stages of entrepreneurial journey as well as gaps in the eco system.  Women have largely remained invisible to society primarily due to the widespread notion that men are the bread earners of the family and that  women are meant to manage household chores. But in recent years, a number of factors and efforts from various stakeholders and quarters have led to the visibility of women  as entrepreneurs.

Keeping focus on encouraging and promoting entrepreneurship among women, a daylong conference on the 4^th edition of “Women Power 2019” was held at EDII on September 7th, 2019. Organized by Billennium Divas Fund Pvt. Ltd in association with EDII, the conference appreciated the efforts of women entrepreneurs. It also discussed the issues women face towards becoming ab entrepreneur and balancing various roles. The event was a huge success and was attended by the ‘Who’s-Who’ of the Start-up circle, mentors, investors and industrialists. The Chief Guest of the event was Smt. Anju Sharma IAS, Principal Secretary (Higher & Technical Education), Education Department, Government of Gujarat. Eminent personalities shared insightful information on leadership, women empowerment, and issues typical to women when they venture out as entrepreneurs.
