Mrs. Ranjana Prabhakar Gharat resides in Johe, Raigad, Maharashtra. She previously worked with her husband in Ganesh idol unit. This experience provided her with valuable knowledge of the manufacturing process and ignited a desire to open her own unit.
She came to know about Project UDAYA through a pamphlet, and she attended Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme in Pen, Raigad. The programme equipped her with essential business skills, including enterprise startup procedures, effective communication, decision-making, goal setting, and bookkeeping. The training instilled in her the confidence and knowledge, she decided to pursue her dream of starting a Ganesh idol making unit.
Mrs. Ranjana Prabhakar Gharat applied for a Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) loan and secured Rs. 5 lakhs loan from the Bank of Baroda’s Johe branch. Combining this with her own investment of Rs. 5 lakhs, she launched Pritam Kala Kendra in Johe to manufacture Ganesh and Durga idols. Her future plans include expanding production by establishing a new unit in her village. Ranjana’s success serves as an inspiration to other aspiring entrepreneurs in her community.
