Prarthana Nagvekar, a 12th-pass from Chendhare village in Alibag, Raigad district, nurtured a dream of entrepreneurship from a young age. However, due to social responsibilities, she was unable to pursue it initially. Prarthana possessed exceptional skill of quilt-making, but never considered it a business.
Her path changed when she came to know about the UDAYA Project programme. Participating in the programme, she gained invaluable knowledge in starting a business, marketing tools and techniques, accounting and bookkeeping, effective communication, and customer relationship management. Empowered by this training, Prarthana launched “Prarthana Creation” in Alibag, producing quilts, handbags, and ladies’ purses.
With an initial investment of Rs. 3 lakh, she started her business. Today, after deducting all expenses, Prarthana earns approximately Rs. 30,000 per month. Currently operating from a rented shop, her next goal is to purchase her own shop, further solidifying her growing business. Prarthana’s story is a testament to the power of skill development and determination, proving that dreams can be realized with the right support. Her entrepreneurial journey continues to inspire others in her community.
