Revathi, an agricultural labour, balanced her agricultural duties with ensuring her family’s nutritional needs. Observing the growing garments and fashion accessories market; she recognized the potential but lacked the skills. Her breakthrough came when she participated in an Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme in Bagepalli, designed to motivate women to explore market opportunities for enterprise development. She enrolled in Micro Skillpreneurship Development Programme (MSDP) Fashion Technology Training Programme, gained knowledge of contemporary design trends, patterns, and embroidery techniques through both theory and practical training. The programme also covered business management, financial planning, and marketing strategies for business promotion.

During a market survey in Bagepalli, she found a significant demand for emerging fashion trends, boosting her confidence to start her own business. With the assistance of the EDII project staff, she secured a credit amount of Rs. 25,000 from the National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM) as a Common Interest Group (CIF). She obtained an Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) loan of Rs. 3,00,000. Initially, focusing on handwork and stitching, she established a garment enterprise, and now employing two women. She also hires agricultural labour, allowing her to focus on her business full time. To further diversify, she attended jute bags training and with guidance of Master trainer, she started jute bag business alongside fashion technology, ensuring market sustainability.

Revathi now earns Rs. 5.5 lakhs annually, significantly contributing to her family. Recently, she started promoting her business on digital platforms, selling fashion technology garments. Her journey inspires many women, demonstrating how they can transition from labor-intensive roles to successful entrepreneurship through determination and skill. Her future goal is to establish a large-scale embroidery unit.
