Lavanya, an educated woman from Chikkaballapur, has always dreamed of starting her own business. She previously worked as a journalist for a local news channel, earning Rs. 5000. However, her passion for entrepreneurship remained unfulfilled due to lack of awareness about business opportunities. Seeking guidance, she attended an Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme (EAP) organized by EDII in Chikkaballapur, recommended by a friend. After discussing about training programme with her husband, she enrolled. During the training, Lavanya learned various skills, including mehndi, manicure, pedicure, facials, and bridal makeup, along with knowledge in business management, marketing, networking, and promotion.
Recognizing the high demand for makeup services in her town, particularly for events and parties, she established her own makeup and mehndi service centre. Offering home services and receives orders through social media platforms.
Lavanya offers a range of services, including mehndi, manicures, pedicures, facials, and bridal makeup. She started her business with an investment of Rs. 50,000 from CIF (Community Investment Fund). Currently, her monthly income is Rs 20,000. Lavanya now aims to expand her business throughout the district using online marketing. Her journey shows how determination and support can make a passion become a successful business.
