Gunjan embarked on her entrepreneurial journey in 2022. Her family faced financial hardship after her husband lost his job during the COVID-19 pandemic. Always aspirations of self-reliance, she sought an opportunity to express her ambitions. Gunjan was introduced to SVEP through Sarita Devi, a Community Resource Person for Enterprise Promotion (CRP-EP) at the Block Resource Centre (BRC), Gunjan connected with an EDII mentor who guided her in starting a business.
Recognizing a local market gap for quality baked goods, Gunjan seized the opportunity. Her family’s financial struggles and her personal drive fueled her ambition. She faced initial challenges, including the financial problem due to her husband’s unemployment and a lack of prior business experience in the bakery business. However, she initially invested Rs. 1,40,000 to start her business.
EDII mentors played a crucial role in her development, providing training in raw material procurement, marketing, and customer relationship management. These skills proved invaluable in establishing and growing her business. Looking to the future, Gunjan aspires to expand her operations to meet the increasing demand for her products. This expansion will also create local employment opportunities. Her story is a testament to resilience and the power of entrepreneurial spirit in overcoming adversity.
