Capacity Building of Business Membership Organizations

The role of Business Membership Organizations (Industry Associations or Chamber of Commerce and Industry) as facilitators of business (of MSMEs), by extending a range of meaningful value added services to their members cannot be understated. Proactive BMOs can efficiently bridge market imperfections arising due to information asymmetries by acting as a good resource. In order to ensure such a role from BMOs, it is important to improve their functional and organizational performance. Capacity building programmes for BMOs have ensured that they are able to provide quality services to their members.

Capacity Building Programme for Govt. Officials of Maharashtra

  • Officials from the Department of Industries of Maharashtra responsible for MSME development, including policymakers, administrators, program managers, and field officers participated in the programme.
  • The workshop supported by Maharashtra Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Limited (MSSIDC), Government of Maharashtra aimed to equip government officials with the skills and understanding necessary to implement the MSME growth strategy.

Capacity Building Program (CBP) for the functionaries of Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat

  • 3 batches of the programme  were organised for teachers and professionals of Assam Agriculture University
  • The programmes helped the participants to strengthen their mentoring, teaching and guiding skills in the area of Agri-Entrepreneurship and helped them to identify and analyse agribusiness opportunities and formulate action plans for agricultural ventures.

Capacity Building Training programme for DIC Officials of Govt. of. Kerala

  • DIC Officials of Govt. of Kerala were oriented in the programme.
  • The participants were provided with an orientation on developmental strategies and developmental models to the senior officials of the department.

Training Programme with Reliance Foundation

  • Organised in 2 batches, 4-day training programmes were conducted in collaboration with Reliance Foundations Rural Transformation Programme to enhance technical competencies of CSR and NGO Professionals.
  • Professionals from Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka participated in the Training of Trainers Programme on Micro Enterprise Development (MED).

Training Programmes with Adani Foundation

  • Participants were trained in a 3-day training programme on ‘Micro Enterprise Promotion and Handholding Women Entrepreneurs’ in collaboration with Adani Enterprises Ltd. with a vision to empower and equip microenterprises facilitators with the knowledge and skills to foster entrepreneurial initiatives.
  • Participants were oriented in ‘Training Program on Business Plan Preparation & Reporting Enterprise Performance’ for officials of ADANI foundation in developing technical competency and supporting the development of microenterprises at the ground level.

Training Programme with Department of Industries & Commerce, Govt. of Telangana

  • Senior officials from Department of Industries & Commerce, Govt. of Telangana participated in a training-cum-exposure visit programme.
  • The participants were provided with an orientation towards developmental strategies and developmental models to the senior officials of the department.

Adani Natural Resources – Training for CSR Officials

  • A training programme for CSR officials from Adani Natural Resources, was conducted in Singrauli, focusing on strengthening their capabilities to support and manage rural microenterprises.
  • The participants officers benefitted in terms of :
    • Develop soft skills in business communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and risk management.
    • Gaining competencies in quality control, planning, target setting, service orientation and efficiency
    • Information on opportunity identification, marketing rural products, government scheme convergence, and enterprise monitoring.

Soft Skills, Personality Development, and Professional Excellence (Sponsored by National Statistical Systems Training Academy)

  • A Refresher Training Programme on ‘Soft Skills, Personality Development, and Professional Excellence’ for Junior Statistical Officers of the Subordinate Statistical Service (SSS), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), was inaugurated by Shri J.K. Sinha, Chief Secretary, Government of Tripura, on December 2, 2024, in Agartala. This week-long training programme was supported by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES), Tripura, in collaboration with the National Statistical Systems Training Academy (NSSTA). Implemented by EDII, the programme enhanced the leadership skills and adaptability of participants in their respective roles.
  • 47 officers acknowledged increased communication skills, decision-making and leadership competencies, which they stated would help them in effective data governance and public service delivery.

Training-Cum Exposure Visit for KIED Officials

  • EDII organised a Training-Cum Exposure Visit for eight officials from Kerala Institute of Entrepreneurship Development (KIED) to build their capacity as future entrepreneurship trainers and professionals.
  • Aligned with Kerala’s vision of establishing a State Entrepreneurship Development Institute, the visit provided strategic exposure and enhanced institutional readiness.

Capacity Building for Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs)

  • A five-day Capacity Building Programme was conducted for FPC leaders and officers from 13 companies across 8 states, along with sponsor representatives. The training focused on business planning, market linkages, financial management, and HR strategies.
  • 26 participants trained on operational efficiency and entrepreneurial strategy.
  • Enabled FPCs to become more competitive, sustainable, and capable of generating greater economic value for farmer members.

Training of Trainers (ToT) for JKEDI Officials

  • An online Training of Trainers (ToT) programme on Entrepreneurship was conducted for the employees of JKEDI. The objective of the training was to enhance the capacity of JKEDI officials to promote and support entrepreneurship across the state.
  • The programme witnessed active participation from over 90 employees representing all districts of Jammu & Kashmir, marking a significant step towards strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the region.
  • Strengthened the entrepreneurship promotion ecosystem in J&K, ensuring district- level outreach and professional capacity to support startups and micro enterprises.

Youth Knowledge Hub Project (YKHP (Sponsored by Fairtrade Network of Asia & Pacific Producers Ltd. | Co-funded by European Commission FFPA)

  • With youth being recognised as key agents of social change and innovation, the Youth Knowledge Hub Project (YKHP) was implemented by EDII under the support of Fairtrade Network of Asia and Pacific Producers Ltd. with co-funding by the European Commission Funding Framework Partnership Agreement (EC FFPA).
