From the Director General’s Desk: Entrepreneurship Education, Policies and Partnerships

Modern India’s identity emanates from its growing number of startups, incubation centres and a high incidence of innovations. Entrepreneurship in India is not just encouraged but is nurtured in a supportive ecosystem. The country sports an ideal alignment between incubators, investors, research institutions, government and the industry. Pro industry policies, numerous funding options and incubation support are gradually harnessing and boosting India’s potential to become a foremost entrepreneurial nation. Innovations and unicorns in India are rampant, with youth widely planning their entrepreneurial career from a young age.

At a wider level, we see India actively evolving its policies to nurture a knowledge-based economy, reinforced by the collaborative efforts of Research Labs, Centres of Excellence and Corporates. A striking factor in this ecosystem is the shift of women entrepreneurs towards high-tech sectors, moving beyond traditional business roles.

Nationally, the startup landscape is supported by over 1,300 incubators, with Gujarat alone hosting more than 90. Within this booming environment, the EDII plays a crucial role. As a Centre of Excellence, EDII serves as the Nodal Institute for the Government of Gujarat and the anchor institute for strengthening the state’s entrepreneurial foundation. The Institute remains committed to training and educating youths towards developing a sharper entrepreneurial bent of mind. The EDII Post Graduate Programmes’ alumni are reaching places and getting recognised. Nothing can be more satisfying for the Alma Mater.

So, as the startup era booms, we expect more students to transition into successful entrepreneurs.
