Inauguration of Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) in Porbandar : Special Focus on Blue Economy, Food Processing and Women Empowerment

Under the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences–2025 initiative, a district-level programme was organised on December 19, 2025, at Porbandar by EDII. As part of the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Summit–2025, the district-level event was held under the chairmanship of Shri Arjun Modhwadia, Hon’ble Minister for Forests and Environment, Climate Change, Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat. The Vibrant Gujarat Regional Summit–2025 is being organised across the state with the objective of promoting regional industrial development across sectors and facilitating sustainable, long-term investments.

Considering Porbandar’s unique geographical strengths, special emphasis has been placed on the ‘Blue Bio-Economy Development Roadmap’ and the ‘Agri and Food Processing Conclave.’ To encourage women entrepreneurs, a ‘Sashakt Nari Mela’ was also organised, providing a global platform to local arts, skills, and enterprises. As part of the three-day programme, seminars were held on December 19 and 20, 2025, on themes including the Food Industry, Blue Economy, Biotechnology, and Agri-Processing Start-ups. An exhibition aligned with ‘Vocal for Local’ was also organised.

Addressing the gathering, Cabinet Minister Shri Arjunbhai Modhwadia stated that Porbandar district is poised to scale new heights of development in the coming years. He said the government has undertaken special planning for infrastructure development, tourism promotion, and upliftment of coastal areas in Porbandar, which will significantly enhance local employment opportunities.
EDII – Director General, Dr. Sunil Shukla highlighted the vast opportunities available in the agri and food processing sector and expressed gratitude to the Minister for conceptualising and supporting the event. He also appealed to entrepreneurs to actively participate in the seminars, draw learnings and become a part of knowledge-driven entrepreneurship.
