Ladakh is steadily gaining recognition for its contributions in the field of entrepreneurship. Enterprising Ladakh is an initiative of the Department of Higher Education, Union Territory of Ladakh, is being implemented by EDII to enhance the entrepreneurial quotient of the region. Under this initiative, a series of capacitybuilding and entrepreneurship development initiatives were conducted across Ladakh during the last two months, aiming to strengthen the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by empowering youth, aspiring entrepreneurs and existing enterprises.
Technology, Market and Management Support Session was conducted on October 22, 2025, for existing and new enterprises in Leh. More than 20 enterprises and aspiring entrepreneurs participated in the session, gaining insights to strengthen their business operations and market presence. Another significant programme, a Mentoring and Handholding Camp was held on October 14, 2025, with participation of over 25 entrepreneurs and Self-Help Group (SHG) members. They received guidance and on-ground support for UDYAM and Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) registration. The camp empowered local enterprises towards formalization, improved compliance and better access to government schemes.
In addition, two 3-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes (EAPs) engaged 100 students and interns of various departments. The programmes covered key topics such as entrepreneurship fundamentals, market understanding, innovation, idea development, entrepreneurial skills and awareness on government schemes.
