EDII South India Region officeat Bangalore office takes the credit of bagging the prestigious Accenture project 'Skills to Succeed 2020 Goal' successively for 2 years from 2015-16 to 2016-17. Accenture is one of the world's leading management consulting, technology services and outsourcing organizations, with presence in 53 countries around the globe.
Through this project, EDII is organizing Micro Enterprise Development Programmes (MEDPs) in 8 southern Indian states viz. Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh,Maharashtra,Goa and Puduchery. The project will develop Micro Entrepreneurs among the rural women and youth. The beneficiaries are mostly from the marginalized and backward families. The project has been substantially helping the beneficiaries in their socio-economic development through livelihood creation, employment generation, asset creation and revenue generation on a sustainable basis. In the FY 2015-16, EDI has trained 3000 beneficiaries in South India, and 2,222 of them have started their micro enterprises successfully creating direct jobs for nearly 6,300 rural youth.
In FY 2016-17, EDII has a goal to train 4,050 beneficiaries and it is expected that over 3,000 of them shall become micro entrepreneurs creating direct jobs to over 10,000 people. The beneficiaries are given training in Entrepreneurship skills and Technical skills along with necessary hand holding support in terms of credit linkage, market development, technology transfer, raw material sourcing, linking the beneficiaries to the supporting government agencies and business counselling etc. The holistic focus of Accenture is to achieve the motto of Skills to Succeed (S to S)', by the end of fiscal 2020. The entire project 'S to S' will equip 3 million people globally with workplace and entrepreneurial skills.
